An Evening of Indian Classical Music –  Zorba Baithak Series

The ‘Zorba Baithak’ is a mehfil for soulful exchange between artiste and audience. In this warm & intimate gathering, you are able to share eye contact, smiles and appreciation with the performers. It is a special connection which cannot be experienced in the mightiest of auditoriums.

Here, all Rasiks can find the space to move and sway along with the
music.

You are all invited to an evening of Indian instrumental music with Hansaveena by Pt. Subhasis Basu. He will be accompanied by Sh. Durjay Bhaumik on Tabla.

Facilitator Bio: Subhasis Basu & Sh. Durjay Bhaumik

 

Subhasis Basu

An eminent guitarist equipped with the skill of playing both electrical and Hawaiian guitar. Subhasis Basu shares his passion in playing Indian classical tunes in Hansa Veena and Mohan Veena – a unique stringed musical instrument. Subhasis started learning guitar at a very young age from his mother and started performing at All India Radio (AIR) from 1975. Committed and dedicated to playing guitar, he became the disciple of Sitar Maestro Padma Bhushan Debu Chaudhuri Ji in 1992. He has performed in numerous concerts in India and abroad with top front line musicians of Kolkata and Mumbai.

Sh. Durjay Bhaumik

An acclaimed accompanist as well as soloist, Durjay Bhaumik hails from Kolkata. Early initiation into Music by Pt Dulal Nutta of Lucknow gharana (1981 -99) and later Pt V Malviya of Delhi (1999 – 2001), nurtured Durjay’s considerable talent. He was then accepted by TALYOGI Pt Suresh Talwalkar as his disciple in 2001. Durjay’s performances and work has been widely acclaimed and appreciated by audiences at various music festivals and venues all across the globe-spanning several parts of Asia, Europe, middle east and America, marked with considerable success and appreciation.
