Contact Improv Workshop and Jam Session – Walking into Listening Workshop
Contact Improvisation (CI) is a form of improvised dancing, involves exploring one’s body in relation to others through touch, movement awareness, sharing weight by following a shared point of contact.
It involves knowing the self, the movements and the connection with the surroundings through falling, rolling, counterbalance, lifting using minimal effort, centering and releasing, and responding with awareness.
In this workshop, we will explore physical contact to enhance a deeper sense of communication through the body.
The workshop will begin with a warm-up and variations in movements and walking freely with an understanding of space.
You may be guided into surrendering and listening to your own voice.
Dive into the journey of sensing the quality of touch using the simple to tool of CI like support, following, leading, rolling, sliding and point of contact etc.
This evening is open to all levels and no prior experience is required.
We invite all dancers, theatre artists, performers and all those who are interested in finding new ways of expression and self-exploration.
