Hindustani Classical Vocal and Sitar Concert
We bring to you the Hindustani Classical Vocal and Sitar concert which is healing and meditative in nature.
Since this beautiful concert is in the early evening hours, Pt. Batuk Nath Mishra will play some evening raga-like Yaman; followed by a Thumri or Dadra.
Pandit Ji excels at both the Tantrkari ang and Gayaki ang styles of sitar playing.
What makes his recitals unique is the fact that they are often a balanced blend of singing and sitar playing, making it a real treat for listeners.
He likes to sing Thumri and Dadra and present them on the sitar as well.
He’ll be accompanied by a Tabla player.
The concert will conclude with a soothing surprise which will take you to a different level altogether.
Facilitator Bio: Pt. Batuk Nath Mishra
Pandit Batuk Nath Mishra was born in a renowned musical family of Benaras Gharana on 8th July 1963. His father Pandit Amar Nath Mishra and uncle Pandit Pashupati Nath Mishra were very famous vocalists of their time and were popular in the classical music circle as the ‘Mishra Bandhu’ of Benaras.
Batuk Ji received his initial taaleem in vocals a home from his father and uncle. And then went on to learn sitar with the renowned sitarist Prof. Thakur Rajbhaan Singh of Benaras Hindu University. At a young age, Pandit Ji became an ‘A’ grade artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan.
He has performed in numerous prestigious festivals in India like the Ganga Mahotsav, Taj Mahotsav, SankatMochan Festival, Swami Haridas Sangeet Sammelan, International Yoga & Music Festival etc. Pandit Ji is also affiliated with ICCR (International Council of Cultural Relations) and has performed in countries like Switzerland, France, Spain, Germany, Taiwan and Mauritius bringing the joy of Indian Classical Music to faraway shores.
