SUFI ZIKR & WHIRLING
“I searched for God and found only myself. I searched for myself and found only God.” – Rumi
The Sufi ceremony of Zikr is a sacred opportunity to journey within. This is the time to remember the divine who is always present inside. In this event, we will let the heart dance and sing and start moving into space where nothing but the divine exists.
This will be followed by Whirling where we will cherish the joy of silence. Through movement, we will learn to be a watcher as the body begins to move, but the consciousness remains still.
As we become more detached and are able to simply observe what is happening around, we become more aware and less body-conscious. This calm helps us to fully live life and be present to every moment, instead of judging it.
