An Evening of Rumi Poetry

“I love you neither with my heart.. Nor with my mind.
My heart might stop.. My mind can forget.
I love you with my soul.. Because my soul never stops.. Or forgets.”

In these very simple words, Rumi shares deepest thoughts that can be interpreted at three levels: romance, love and prayer. The same words at different levels mean different things. His poems appeal to all ages and religions even after 800 years, because he talks about love and life and God in such simple terms that touch the heart today.

On this very enchanting Rumi poetry evening Dhruv Sangari (Bilal Chishty Sangari) will introduce his unique gift to the world. Dhruv began training in Hindustani classical music at the age of 7 under Smt. Shahana Bannerjee and Pt. B.S. Ramanna. Later, he developed an interest in Sufism and Sufi music and began learning Qawwali with Ustad Meraj Ahmed Nizami of the Delhi-Qawwalbachhe Gharana. He was also given training and guidance by the legendary Qawwali and Classical maestro late Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan saheb. Along with his recital you can bring along you favorite Rumi piece and we will together get nurtured in the divine words. The poetry shall pave the path for Zikr and Sufi practices like whirling and Gurjeiff movements.  This shall give a meditative closure to this beautiful evening.

Let us savor and spread the fragrance of Sufism and create magic in the very mystical setting of Zorba the Buddha. Let us surrender in the celebration of syncretism, diversity and embodiment of  the message of peace, love, joy and service of humanity.
