Role Overview

We are looking for a General Manager who will oversee the day-to-day operations, ensuring the center remains financially sustainable while upholding its core values. This role requires a dynamic leader who can balance spiritual ethos with financial responsibility, overseeing revenue generation, managing expenses, and fostering a thriving, harmonious environment for guests, facilitators, and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sustainability & Financial Oversight: Ensure the center’s long-term sustainability by managing revenue streams, optimizing operational costs, and maintaining a balanced financial model aligned with our mission as a charitable trust.
  • Revenue Generation: Develop and implement strategies to enhance revenue from workshops, retreats, events, and accommodations while maintaining the integrity of Zorba the Buddha’s spiritual offerings.
  • Expense Management: Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation to ensure efficient use of funds and adherence to sustainability principles.
  • Operational Excellence: Supervise daily operations, staff coordination, and guest experiences to maintain high-quality service and a peaceful, welcoming environment.
  • Community Engagement: Build strong relationships with facilitators, guests, volunteers, and donors to expand the impact and reach of Zorba the Buddha.
  • Strategic Growth: Identify opportunities for expansion, partnerships, and innovative programs to enhance Zorba the Buddha’s offerings.
  • Leadership & Team Management: Inspire and guide a diverse team, fostering a culture of mindfulness, collaboration, and excellence.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience in operations management, financial planning, or hospitality management within a retreat center, spiritual organization, or nonprofit.
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, revenue models, and cost control within a charitable or hospitality setting.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Passion for mindfulness, conscious living, and community-building.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment, balancing financial sustainability with spiritual values.
